Shade Tree has moved!

Southern California was Shade Tree's home since 1975. We have now moved north to the foothills of the Sierras. We are in the beautiful little town of Nevada City.

Shade Tree is no longer a retail store.

Our repair shop is busy, as always, with guitars, banjos, mandolins, resophonics, dulcimers, ukes and Irish harps.

I am an authorized Martin Guitar warranty service provider, and I have been for over 25 years. I also do warranty work on Goodall Guitars.

I relish the challenging and have lots of experience with unusual repairs. Other shops and repairmen have long referred vintage and unique instruments to me because of my experience with the use of hide glue, French polish technique, and other quirks of 19th and early 20th century instruments. I do set-ups, small repairs, cosmetic touch-ups and major rebuilds.
